Celebrating Rosh Hashanah with Floral Centerpieces, Bouquets, and More

lb3The Jewish New Year is here. This year, it is celebrated from September 24 until September 26th. Known as Rosh Hashanah, it is often referred to as the Head of the Year. Over the course of two days, many prayers, horn blowing, and food defines this observance of the anniversary of the creation of Adam and Eve, representing the relationship between mankind and God

Celebrating the Jewish New Year

The Jewish New Year is a time to focus on that relationship with God and reflect on what you have done throughout the year, including those actions where you feel that it is now time to do penance for because of sins committed that you are now reflecting on. lb1

The observance of Rosh Hashanah includes many activities. One activity involves the sounding the shofar. This is a ram’s horn, which is used to announce the coronation of the king and calls for repentance from sin among all who want to continue their relationship with God.

This horn blowing also signals ten days of repentance that then ends with Yom Kippur, known as the Day of Atonement. The horn is blasted 100 times over the course of Rosh Hashanah services as a reminder of this need to repent.

Other parts of Rosh Hashanah include food, family, and celebrations. One of these involves eating an apple dipped in honey and many special foods that symbolize the blessings of a New Year. Special prayers are also said at services along with candle lighting ceremonies. march11lb1
